Garni Temple 

Garni temple is the only pagan temple preserved in the territory of Armenia. It was the temple of Mihr, the God of the Sun, heavenly light and justice. It was the summer residence of the Armenian kings, built in 76 AD. Garni temple is located in a mountainous area with an amazing view on of nearby orchards, vineyards and fields. The natural monument the Symphony of Stones is located in Garni gorge not far from the temple. Columns in the form of hexagonal cylinders of that are often called “Basalt Organ”.

Geghard Monastery 

Geghard Monastery Complex (included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage) got its modern name in the 13th century. According to the legend, Jude the Apostle brought here the legendary spear (“geghard”) Christ was killed with by one of the legionary. The spearhead is now kept in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin Treasury. Part of Geghard Monastery Complex is carved out of a mountain. The oldest one, Ayrivank Monastery (Rock Monastery) built in 4th century was destroyed during the Arab invasion. In 2000, Geghard Monastery Complex has been included in the list of UNESCO world heritage sites.
